GST 2.0 and car prices: what actually changed
Small cars got cheaper, large SUVs did not. A plain-language guide to the new slabs and what they mean on the road.

Under the revised structure, sub-four-metre petrol cars under 1,200 cc attract a lower effective rate, translating into savings of ₹30,000 to ₹70,000 on popular hatchbacks.

Vehicles above four metres with engines larger than 1,500 cc sit in the higher slab, so most three-row SUVs see little or no benefit.

Electric vehicles remain at the concessional rate, keeping the gap between an EV and its petrol equivalent broadly unchanged.
